Sharleen Revia

Born in 1996, Sharleen Revia began her professional piano training at ABRSM. In 2016, she moved to Germany to further her studies and made her debut in contemporary music composition with Hannah Hanbyul Choi. She completed her Audio Design Diploma at the Deutsche POP Akademie in 2017, during which she produced a series of imaginative and well-received works under the mentorship of Prof. Il-Ryun Chung and Arne Gieshoff at the Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt.

In 2018, Sharleen participated as a composer and musician in the Linstower 1. Musikwoche. The following year, her piece for piano and voice, Heimat, premiered at Staatstheater Darmstadt as part of Aktion Theaterfoyer’s series Lieder unserer Zeit. That same year, she was awarded 3rd prize in the Günter Bialas Composition Competition.

Deeply interested in exploring diverse instrumental traditions, Sharleen has worked extensively with both Western and non-Western instruments. In 2020, she took part in the International Composition Workshop 2 with the AsianArt Ensemble, premiering Teka-Teki, a piece for Asian traditional instruments and Western instrumentation, in Berlin.

In 2021, her work was performed by Kairos Quartett at the Zeitströme Festival. She earned her bachelor's degree in composition in 2021 and, after years of dedicated study, completed her postgraduate (Künstlerische Aufbau Studium – Komposition) under Prof. Il-Ryun Chung at the Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt in 2023.

In 2023, she was invited for a radio interview on HR2-Kultur-Rundfunk's Musikland Hessen, where she shared insights into her artistic journey and musical philosophy. That same year, her quintet for Korean traditional instruments, Ode of Spring, was premiered by the Dalmoon Ensemble at the Korean Cultural Center Berlin. She also participated as a featured composer in the Gustav Mahler and Young Composers program during the Gustav Mahler Music Week in Toblach, Italy.

In 2024, her latest composition was premiered by Ensemble Le Pecore, adding another remarkable performance to her growing repertoire.
